Aquamarine! Birthstone of March

Aquamarine: Birthstone of March

One of the most beautiful gemstones is Aquamarine. It is the sister stone of Emerald, Morganite, Goshenite, and Heliodor. In Latin Aquamarine means seawater. It is considered to be an “old money” stone. The popular assumption is if you own an Aquamarine, you probably have money.

When choosing colored gemstones, normally the larger the stone the deeper the color, this holds true for Aquamarine. The color range for Aquamarine is blue to greenish-blue. My favorite color for Aqua is the greenish-blue. But, the most sought after color for Aquamarine is blue, it commands the highest price.

If you love the color blue and statistically most people in 10 countries do, you have many blue and greenish-blue gemstones to choose from; Sapphire, Spinel, Kyanite, Turquoise, Tourmaline, blue diamonds. One of my all-time favorites is Aquamarine. You need to come in and see this stone in person to truly appreciate the beauty of the gem. Having it surrounded in diamonds adds to the allure of this birthstone!
